Small Setback for Intel's SSDs

Intel has pulled back shipments of the X25-M 2.5" and X18-M 1.8" solid state drives. These new SSDs are based on 34NM lithography technology. These new drives are more cost efficient than the previous 50NM technology drives. Intel admits that a data corruption problem occurs when a users sets up a BIOS password, then disables or modifies the password and reboots the computer. This causes the SSD to become inoperable and the data becomes irretrievable. Intel has issued a firmware upgrade as a fix.
