Jury Decides $40,000 Judgement Against Kid Rock

An Atlanta jury awarded $40,000 in damages to a man that claimed Kid Rock and his crew beat him down in 2007 at a Waffle House.  The man, Harlen Akins sued Robert James Ritchie (A.K.A. Kid Rock) and 5 of his crew over the beating.  Two of the defendants were dismissed Thursday.

Akins was asking for $6,000 in medical fees and an undisclosed amount in punitive damages.  The Jury decided against awarding any punitive damages. Responsibility for compensatory damages will be decided among the 4 remaining defendants based on their level of the beat down.

Kid Rock pleaded guilty in March 2008 to a misdemeanor charge of simple battery.
