Lookout Valley Man Charged With Killing Cat With Shotgun
posted October 12, 2010
A Lookout Valley man has been charged with killing a cat with a shotgun.
James Reece Rogers, 45, of 868 O'Grady Dr., was charged with cruelty to animals and reckless endangerment.
In the incident Sunday, Paul Sherrell said a man next door fired a "rifle-type weapon" at him or at least in his direction.
He said he could hear projectiles coming through the leaves in the bushes next to his mother's house. He said he thought one of his cows had been hit.
Police checked with Rogers next door and he initially said he shot a rodent with his shotgun.
Police said he later admitted to shooting a gray and white cat and then throwing the carcass into the woods behind his neighbor's house.
The shotgun was secured and Rogers was taken into custody. He was taken to the County Jail.
He is due to appear in General Sessions Court on Oct. 28.

WTF is wrong with people? Can't they just leave the poor animal alone? Jeez. Karma's a bitch.
