An Evil Dead Remake Coming Soon, But With No Ash

Yep. That's right. An evil dead remake is in the works and there will be no Ash.

There are two iconic faces of The Evil Dead. One is Sam Raimi, whose comic, kinetic filmmaking was a framework in which grotesque horror could exist side by side with Three Stooges-style slapstick. (And so: ‘splatstick.’) The other iconic face is Bruce Campbell, whose Ash Williams character is the beating heart of The Evil Dead and, to generations of fans, the voice of a certain approach to horror.

Preparation, struggle, rejection? Bah! All jokes aside, the girl is friendly, silly, and easy to talk to. The 24-year-old Brit grew up on a farm, which goes a long way toward making someone totally normal…or completely batballs crazy. You draw your own conclusions, but at the photo shoot for this piece, she talked about killing chickens (normal, to us) and how she didn’t feel like she looked her best that day (batballs crazy, clearly).

Some stellar movies make their way to DVD Tuesday. Among them ...

'Black Swan'

Darren Aronofsky's inspired, unsettling drama (rated R) tells the tale of a ballerina teetering on the brink of greatness and madness. The director brings out the toughness of a world that, while presenting a gentler face, is powered just as compulsively by painful physical and psychological extremes.

As Nina Sayers, Natalie Portman delivered an Oscar-winning performance as a child-woman whose fragility gradually gives way to grave self-destruction.

Nina is a member of a New York dance company when the troupe's artistic director (Vincent Cassel) taps her to star in a production of "Swan Lake." Her technical brilliance and tentative innocence make her perfect for the White Swan, but he's less sure she can pull off the ruthlessness and sensuality of her evil twin, the Black Swan. Perhaps Lily (Mila Kunis), an uninhibited, wild-eyed newcomer to the company, would be better suited?

The Full Captain America: The First Avenger Trailer!

After a couple of days of teasing by Entertainment Tonight, the full 2 1/2 minute Captain America: The First Avenger trailer is out! This is no teaser. The trailer shows how Steve Rogers goes from being rejected by the army for being too small, to the Super Soldier we know as Cap. In my opinion this movie is going to kick some major ass. The movie hits theaters on July 22nd, 2011.

PCMag.com: Why There's Nothing Good to Stream on Amazon Prime or Netflix

Yesterday Amazon added Instant Videos to its Amazon Prime service, giving members the ability to stream over 5,000 movie and TV show titles. Hot on the heels of that story, today Netflix worked out a deal to stream a big portion of the CBS library of TV shows on its service. Looking at what the two developments involve, you'll notice a similar pattern: in both cases, the vast majority of the content is very old.
The news about video coming to Amazon Prime was initially exciting since the service (which most people had probably dismissed because it really only offered getting your Amazon junk delivered a day or two sooner) costs less per month than Netflix, and even Hulu Plus. Bill Murray Speaks About Ghostbusters 3

No one's ever going to believe you. And if you're the "Ghostbusters 3" script, Bill Murray may never read you.
While director Ivan Reitman is all gung ho about a third movie in the classic comedy series, having written the script and plotted a whole future for the franchise, his biggest star isn't too hot on the whole idea.
Murray, speaking with Howard Stern, gave some rare comments about the proposed film, which hinges on his participation. He admits that Reitman has sent him over the script, but that's about as far as it's gotten.
