Please Help Save My Friend's Dog's Life!!

A Message From Matt:
Naleya

She has one of the most wonderful personalities we’ve ever seen in a dog. She is very funny and silly, but also very protective and loving at the same time. We have a number of friends who aren’t ‘dog people’ who swear up and down they love her and have never met another dog like her. Anytime we take her to the vet or for chemo the staff always love seeing her. Everyone falls in love with her very shortly after meeting her. At 100lbs, she is a gentle giant.

We bring her over to my grandparents house from time to time and she’ll sit with our 1 year old niece and 2 year old nephew contently. She loves kids and she is very protective and loyal. She also does this really funny and cute thing for attention where she will walk/run in-between your legs and stand there as you are walking. At her size, you can imagine how funny that is.

Another funny/interesting thing she does is how she will follow conversations as they are happening. She’ll watch between person to person as people talk as if she’s trying to follow along. It’s really cool to watch. She does this really cute thing with her toys where she grabs them and throws them straight up in the air over her head.

She also knows where her treats are kept. When she wants one she will get your attention, then get you to follow her to the hall closet where she knows her treats are kept, and sit down in front of the door just waiting for her treat. We’ve both had dogs all of our lives and love them. We feel she is very special and we want her to be with us for a long time to come.

Police Blotter Oct. 12, 2010 from The Chattanoogan.com

Police Blotter: Gas Tab Rises After 80-Cent Purchase
posted October 12, 2010

A man who told a clerk he only wanted 80 cents worth of gas wound up getting a full tank.

A clerk at Mr. Zip on Frazier Avenue said he accidentally authorized $80 in gas after the customer told him 80 cents.

The customer didn't stop at the 80 cents. He kept pumping until his newer-model black Nissan Pathfinder was full at the $54.60 mark.

The clerk said he approached the man at the pump and told him he would have to pay the balance. But the man drove off without paying.

Trying to trace the tag on the vehicle didn't help. It came back to a white Chevrolet.

Faith Morgan of Sylvan Avenue said she came home and found that her front door had been kicked open. Nothing was missing this time.

When it happened two weeks earlier, the burglar took a TV and laptop computer.

James Jordan, property manager at a location on Austin Drive, said Ryan B. Austin, former maintenance worker, was evicted a week ago. He spent some time moving out all his items.

A neighbor said just before he left, he heard a lot of noise coming from the unit.

Mr. Jordan said he found the entire apartment had been vandalized. There was damage upstairs and downstairs, including to most of the doors.

A warrant was taken against Austin for vandalism.

Brenda Cummings said when she left her residence at 5606 Old Mission Road she left her purse on the roof of her car.

She was later told that a male was seen picking up the purse and taking it inside a house at 5333 Old Mission.

Ms. Cummings knocked on the door of that address and was told by a woman that her son had the purse and was going to return it.

Ms. Cummings found the purse on her front porch.

Items missing included her cash, a check, diabetes medicine and needles.

Ashley Askew said she was getting out of her car on the second floor of the county parking garage next to the county jail when a black male she knows as "Twin" held a black pistol on her and demanded money.

She said "Twin" reached in her purse and helped himself to a bank envelope containing $300.

She said he then left the garage with a heavy-set black male.

A couple of hours later, Ms. Askew called police from Walmart on Signal Mountain Road to report the robbery.

* * *

Mairi Wright of Browndell Drive said someone has been throwing clumps of dirt at her house.

She is going to install security cameras so she can find out who is doing it.

* * *

On South Willow Street, Mateo Miguel notified police that a prostitute had thrown a rock at his car.

Police said Miguel spoke understandable English, but he was so drunk that he could not be understood.

Officers told him to file a report later when he "could make a clear and accurate statement."

Police checked out a ruckus on Crompton Street. An officer was told that Chris Penalver was in town trying to help Amanda Oliver with her living situation.

Also present were Kaitlyn Cook and Jessica Morris.

Police said Ms. Oliver has a child that she believes could be Mr. Penalver's. He denies the child is his.

Ms. Oliver said she found Mr. Penalver sleeping with Ms. Cook and Ms. Morris, and she became enraged.

Police said there was a lot of yelling, but apparently no punches thrown so no charges were filed.

When There is a Threat of Snow in the Chattanooga Area

When there is a threat of snow in Chattanooga, people go nuts. Supermarkets love it when there is a threat of snow, because people buy the store out thinking they are going to be stuck for weeks without food. Schools close before a snowflake even falls. We rarely have snow, but when it does snow it's mainly limited to 1 to 3 inches. The snow generally melts quickly because our precipitation comes from the gulf and is associated with a warm front. We have a chance of snow tonight and you can bet the stores are running out of milk and bread.

Forecast for Chattanooga from WTVC News Channel 9:

Today: Scattered snow/rain/sleet showers, otherwise mostly cloudy skies. High temperatures in the upper 30s to low 40s, and breezy with a SW wind around 10mph. Some light accumulation with the snow showers to begin with

Tonight: Wintry mix becoming all snow showers late. Overnight low temperatures will be falling from the upper 30s to low 30s. West wind between 5-10mph. Accumulations will be possible.

Kenneth Freeman Files Suit Against Walmart Greeter!

From WRCBTV.com:

CHATTANOOGA (WRCB) -- Former Chattanooga police officer Kenneth Freeman has filed a federal suit against a 71 year old greeter and Wal-mart.

In the suit, Freeman claims the greeter, William Walker, used racial profiling when he tried to stop the officer as he left the store last December. The suit also claims Wal-Mart condons racial profiling.

In that incident, Freeman can be seen on tape pushing Walker who fell down. Freeman is representing himself in the case. He's asking for $500,000 in compensatory damages and $2.5 million in punitive damages.

Chattanooga police investigated the incident and punished Freeman but did not fire him. Freeman was later fired for another unrelated incident. He is appealling that firing in court.

Walker sued Freeman for $21 million and the case was settled for $12,000.

The lawsuit mumbo jumbo can be found here. [CLICK]

Speech Class @ Chattanooga State Technical Community College

If you attend Chattanooga State Technical Community college in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and have to take speech 110, I would suggest taking it from Mr. Jefferey Rinkel. I put this class off to the point it was the last class I had to take to graduate. I suffer from generalized anxiety disorder, and he really helped me out. He's a good teacher, makes it fun (well, as fun as it can get for speech class.) We did a series of five speeches total. The first one was an introduction, the second was an informative speech, the third was a demonstration speech, the fourth was a persuasive speech and the fifth was impromptu. We only had one exam. Just make sure you make it a point to attend every class, especially if you are taking it only one day a week. Most of our homework was reading. Just make sure you do your reading because he will sometimes have quizes over the material. Don't be late to class, or you will miss the quizes and there are no make ups. Mr. Rinkel really makes it a point to help you out if you are having trouble. He will work with you. He's very fair. Sometimes he talks about subjects that aren't relavent to speech. He admits to having Attention Deficit Disorder, but it didn't interfere with the learning process. Although I hate public speaking, he gave me more confidence than when I first started the class.
